The 2006 2007 Volvo XL70 uses the same new engine it received last year. It is a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline 5-cylinder model capable of generating 208 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 236 lb-ft of torque at 1500 rpm. Mated to the engine is a standard 5-speed Geartronic transmission that allows either fully automatic or driver selectable gear changes. For exceptional handling and sure-footedness, the XL70 employs an advanced Haldex all-wheel-drive system. The electronically-controlled system reacts to wheel slippage, routing power to the wheels with greater traction almost instantaneously-Volvos says this happens in just one-seventh of a wheel rotation. There are many other engineering features that contribute to the XL70's stability and ride comfort. Its rack-and-pinion steering makes it easy to maneuver, while 4-wheel independent suspension and traction control maintain an even, responsive control. |
