This beauty by Nissan is available in four models as 2.5 BASE, 2.5 S, 3.5 SE and 3.5 SL. These models are provided with 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve 4 cylinder type engine for first two and 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 engines for the last two models. Altima 2.5 BASE and 2.5 S models have 175 hp at 6000 rpm, where as 3.5 SE and 3.5 SL variants have it as 250 hp at 5800 rpm.Torque is generated as 180 @ 4000 (lb.-ft.@ rpm), for the first two variants while for the third and fourth one it is 249 @ 4400. All the models have standard features of Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS), variable intake system, Nissan direct ignition system, platinum-tipped spark plugs, and electronic drive-by-wire throttle. Drivetrain has the following features. Front engine and front wheel drive is standard for all, with 5-speed manual transmission for all except 3.5 SL which has 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode as standard. This feature is optional with 3.5 SE. 4-speed automatic transmission is optional for 2.5 S.

Vented disc front and rear disc brakes are standard. Independent subframe-mounted strut-type front suspension and multi-link independent rear suspension with front and rear stabilizer bars with engine-speed-sensitive power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering is standard for all the Altima models. 16" x 6.5" Steel wheels with bolt-on wheel covers are standard for first and second trims. 16" x 6.5" Six-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels are meant for 3.5 SL and 17" x 7.0" Five-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels are for 3.5 SE. P215/60TR16 tires are standard for all except 3.5 SE as it has P215/55HR17 (H-rated) tires (with A/T) and P215/55VR17 (V-rated) tires (with M/T)as standard.
