2006 2007 Mercury Montego Pictures and Specs    Price Quote    Mileage

The 2006 2007 Mercury Montego will be available with either front- or all-wheel drive. It benefits from a special front bumper plate, octagonal front rails, tripod front channels and Volvo's side-impact protection system (called SIPS), all designed to absorb or deflect much of the force of an impact before its reaches the passenger compartment. Boxed rockers, tailor-welded blanks and cross-members in the firewall, roof and beneath the front and rear seats are designed to enhance side-impact protection. A new smart steering column collapses in an impact based in part on the size of the car's driver. The car's rear-impact crash protection system was designed to meet new federal standards that don't even go into effect for several more years. Equipped with side-impact airbags and safety canopy airbags to maximize protection in side impacts or rollover situations. Anti-lock brakes, adjustable pedals and all-wheel drive further enhance safety.

Additional safety factors include high-intensity discharge headlamps and fast-reacting LED tail lamps that can give those trailing an earlier indication of your intention to slow or stop. 2006 2007 Mercury Montego expects as many as one-third of buyers to opt for all-wheel drive. The 3.0-liter V6 engine provides 200 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque. Models with all-wheel drive come with a new continuously variable transmission (CVT) developed in conjunction with European gearbox expert ZF. Front-wheel-drive models come with a six-speed automatic transaxle from Aisin, a Japanese company that supplies the six-speed automatic used in the Porsche Cayenne, among other vehicles. Either transmission should enhance fuel economy: The CVT allows an engine to operate at its most efficient range while the six-speed automatic provides two more gears than the four-speed automatics commonly in use in family sedans.

The 2006 2007 Mercury Montego incorporates many of the things drivers like about crossover sport-utility vehicles, such as a seat position that provides a higher vantage for viewing the road ahead. The seating position is as much as 4 inches higher than competitive sedans, a more natural seating position. The H-point is a measure of the difference in elevation between someone's hips and heels when seated. The H-point of the Montego's front seats is 12.7 inches and the second row offers a span of 13.1 inches. It will come with a two-tone interior with six-way power-adjustable driver's seat and manual lumbar, a flat-folding front passenger seat, illuminated vanity mirrors, split-folding rear bench seat with height-adjustable headrests, fold-down rear seat armrest with cupholders, automatic headlamps, heated power side mirrors, power windows and locks, fog lamps, remote keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, a tilt steering column, chrome window trim, interval windshield wipers, woodgrain interior, a premium audio system with a CD player, audio controls on the steering wheel and a covered storage console built into the top of the dashboard.
